Unlike product variants, product attribes refer to the factors that make up a products.
Attributes under this term are things like:
- Saftey score
- Review score (stars)
- How many copies sold
There are many more examples I could add above, but I am sure you get the picture.
As you can see from the list of examples above, some product attributes can be physically touched and some attributes are more abstract. In ecommerce, we can split up product attributes for the sake of clarity into tangible and intagible attributes.
Tangible attributes are factors of the product that you can touch and see physically. Intagible attributes are things you cannot physically experience about a product, but instead, things that are defining of a product such as its saftey score (e.g. for cars) or awards won.
